Nike LunarGlide 6 Sole

Several changes have been made to the sole unit of the LunarGlide 6 with the intention of making it lighter, more stable, more responsive and more comfortable without compromising its performance in any way.

One of the most significant changes in the sole are in the design. The heel cup has been increased in size while the mid-soles have been re-designed for extra stability as well as quicker transition. In addition to that, additional reinforcements have been made to the mid-sole giving the runner even more protection against over-pronation. The shoe has been cushioned from heel-to-toe with a new and improved Lunarlon foam.

Lunarlon foam is basically comprised of a soft foam on the inside surrounded by a harder layer on the outside. This has the effect of making the shoe lighter, more comfortable and more stable. Reinforcements have also been

The LunarGlide 6 also makes use of ‘Flex Grooves’ and a ‘pressure mapped out-sole’ The former has the effect of enhancing flexibility during the runner’s foot strike transition while the latter has the effect of improved traction and improved stability.

Nike LunarGlide 6 Upper

The upper of the LunarGlide 6 comes with a newly re-designed mesh that is super-thin and super smooth. Aside from wrapping the whole shoe, the mesh also covers the synthetic overlays that have been strategically placed in the shoe. The result of this new update is an increase in stability, lightness and comfort. The improvements also make the shoe more breathable.

The use of 5 ‘Flywire’ cables on either side of the sole unit instead of the 6 cables used in its predecessor, allows for the tension experienced while lacing the shoe to be evenly spread out through the whole foot. This makes the LunarGlide 6 more comfortable and more secure.

Even the plastic heel support has been increased in size and it now extends into the inner portion of the shoe. The change is meant to enhance stability as well as to enhance and increase arch support.

There is no denying the fact that the LunarGlide 6 is keeping true to its reputation of being light, stable and comfortable. Those who over-pronate will especially love the LunarGlide 6 due to the increased stability that it offers as well as the extra cushioning and comfort that comes with it.

After running several miles in this shoe, I can attest to the fact that its transitions are smooth and fast, the cushioning is impressive making it even more capable for high mileage and it can be used as a training shoe as well as for racing.
